Our Analysis and Test Results
In addition to the black and white versions that we reviewed, this product is also available in a few other colors — red and blue, or yellow and purple — but we have found these other colors typically cost just a bit more, reducing the appeal of this product slightly.
Performance Comparison
Portability
Our first set of portable charger tests compared and contrasted how portable these products actually are. We based scores on how much volume each battery took up, how much they weigh, and how it felt to carry them around in a pocket. The 2-Pack Miady 10000 did quite well, earning an above-average score. Since this product is a 2-pack, our measured numbers and scores are just based on a single battery pack for a more equivalent comparison with other products.
A single one of the Miady 2-Pack batteries weighs in around 7.69 ounces (218 grams) — par for the course for batteries with a 10,000 mAh rating.
We also like that the Miady batteries aren't overly large. Each measures roughly 5.5 inches long by 2.5 inches wide and is slightly thicker than half an inch.
We found that it fits fairly well in most pockets. We tested with a typical pair of jeans and could hardly tell it's there when you are walking around, and it isn't overly uncomfortable or cumbersome when you are sitting down.
Charging Efficiency
Our next round of tests looked at the actual capacity of each battery pack, both by using a simulated load and by repeatedly charging our test phone — a Samsung S8 — to confirm the manufacturer's claims. The Miady 2-Pack batteries did quite well in this set of tests, earning one of the better scores of the group.
This portable charger didn't do amazing with the resistive load, as we were only able to pull about 5922 mAh — about 59% of the claimed capacity — when we set our meter and dummy load setup to pull current at the maximum rate of 2.1 amps.
However, this battery did quite a bit better in our device charging test at the lower output rate. The manufacturer claims that this battery can give you about 2.2 charges for a Samsung S9, and we found that we were able to get just over 3 charges with our test phone, a Samsung S8.
Added Convenience
Our added convenience metric rated and ranked any additional features these products have, such as if they have any integrated cables, plugs, or a flashlight, their warranty, and if you can charge multiple devices at once. The Miady 2-Pack consists of a pair of fairly simple batteries earning it an average score in this metric.
These batteries don't have any integrated cables or plugs and also don't have a flashlight. It does include a micro-USB cable for each battery. These batteries each have two output ports and can charge two devices at once, but that's about it when it comes to bonus features.
We also appreciated that you can recharge this battery via a micro-USB port or a USB-C port — handy, since so many USB-C is the charging standard for so many devices now.
Recharge Time
For our fourth and final metric, we compared how long it took to recharge each of these batteries. We did this by running them down until our test smartphone no longer registered as charging when hooked up to the battery, then used the recommended charger to recharge each battery and timed how long it took until the LED status lights indicated the portable charger was back to 100% charge. Unfortunately, the Miady 2-Pack didn't fare all that well in this test, earning a below-average score.
It took much longer for this battery to recharge in our test than the 5 hours claimed by the manufacturer. It was on the charger for almost 7 hours before the last LED stopped blinking. This was using the micro-USB port with a Quick Charge 3.0 wall adapter that could source up to 3 amps, which more than exceeds the maximum input rating of this battery, so the power supply shouldn't have affected the recharge time at all.
Should You Buy the 2-Pack Miady 10000?
If you want a two-for-one deal to share a charger with a friend or family member, the Miady 2-Pack is a great choice. It has good capacity, is fairly portable, and can charge up to two devices at once. It might not be the most compact or the fastest to recharge, but you get plenty of battery for your buck.
What Other Portable Chargers Should You Consider?
Our favorite portable battery that can charge multiple devices at once is the INIU Portable Charger 10000. If you want a charger that includes all the plugs you'd need, the Q Slim Power Bank Pro 10000 mAh has an integrated Lightning cable, USB-C, and micro USB cable.
